The Last Word: Week 2 football preview

Not a believer in Caruthersville in Class 2 in SEMO? Please let me know the last time Caruthersville has lost to a Class 2 team in SEMO? I'll tell you, it's back in 2008. It's true, giving up 60pts at home is not that impressive but consider the competition. We wasn't playing your typical Semo team or average Class 2 team. it's easy holding Charleston or East Prairie to single digits. Cville played one of the better teams in SWMO, which is saying a lot if you know anyting about high school football. You praised Cape Central for playing a close game last week, well Cville was only down 7 points at half to Liberty. The game was much more competitive than the score showed. It doesn't matter really though. I think Chris Pobst knows what type of team they played last week but that other guy is clueless. You won't see any team from Semo put up that many points on Cville this year, mark it down.

Caruthersville ran into a buzzsaw in the second half of last weeks game but it came from 2 guys on their team in Acklin and Denton. These 2 guys were all state in football the last 2 years, both of them are track guys and are without a doubt a great combo. The Tigers pretty much shut down their running game in the first half, so they decided to start passing the ball which they had great success with. I see no team in the Bootheel regardless of class that has a duo such as the boys from Liberty, most are run oriented teams that will try to control the clock against us...Caruthersville should no have to prove anything as they have made it to the state playoffs 8 out of the last 10 years. I think the other Class 2 Semo teams have something to prove!!

Cheesehead, David Jenkins is a good guy and I've called a few basketball games with him on YHC-TV, but he sure did seem to be in a bad mood this week! Lol! Did he say anything good about any team? A little praise for Cape, Jackson, and Sikeston's defense, but that's it!

I'm sure he is Preacher. I was in a mood earlier today myself but since have gotten better. Wasn't trying to put him down as a person at all. Doesn't surprise me though him praising only the larger schools, it comes with the territory. I just felt he showed Cville no respect at all. I mean other than winning state, what else are they to do? Anyway, I'm off to Malden, I'll see you guys on here later tonight! Good Luck to your team Preacher.

I would be in a bad mood too if someone made me wear that shirt and blazer jacket. In all seriousness though I think Caruthersville looked out of sync and had multiple second half cramping issues at one point 3 of the 5 OL were on the sidelines getting treatment for cramps. Hats off to Joey Middleton though that kid is tough had both legs cramped up got a rub down and sat for a series on defense and thats when Malden scored their lone TD with 4 of our starters on D were on the bench getting a rest. Malden has a heck of a team though they are big up front, physical and have a stable of RB's with mixed attributes. They will do just fine the rest of the season.
