I have been with the Standard Democrat sports department since 2007. I took over as sports editor in May of 2011 and have been slightly crazy about sports since I can remember. Breakdown and bracket for the 2014 SEMO Conference Tournament

Here is this year's bracket for the SEMO Conference Tournament.

The play-in game between No. 8 Kennett and No. 9 Dexter will be played Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play top-seeded Jackson while the loser plays the loser of the No. 2 Cape Central, No. 7 Poplar Bluff game Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Like last season, parity runs rampant through the premier conference tournament of the year. Any of the top six teams could make a run, in my opinion, with Charleston being the sixth seed. Yes, Charleston is a sixth seed. When's the last time Charleston has been seeded that low in any tournament, anywhere, recently? Nonetheless, I believe it's ranked appropriately.

Jackson became the tournament's third team ever to win the tournament last year after dominating runs by Sikeston and Charleston since the conference tournament began in 2006, taking place of what was once the Sikeston Invitational that ran 34 years prior.

Does a Cape Central or Notre Dame finally nab a conference tourney title? Or how about New Madrid County Central and its veteran squad? There's always Sikeston, too, who's lost just four times at the Field House in it's last 82 games on their home floor. Sikeston's last home loss was against Notre Dame during last year's SEMO Conference tournament in an overtime semifinal classic.
