Your View: Worst is coming (11/17/08)
"Free lunch" strategies like Obama's have a history of self-destructing. Our recent economic collapse was but a small example of what awaits America if he continues down his imaginary road of 'change' filled with false promises. Those false and unsustainable images created in the minds of clueless voters by Obama and the DNC dream factory is as much of a fantasy as those produced in Hollywood. ...

Your View: Eight years enough (10/24/08)
To the Editor: My fellow veterans, once again we're called upon to defend our freedom! The battle is for the rights we have all fought for! I'm a disabled veteran and get all of my healthcare through the VA. We all know it could be a lot better with the proper funding it deserves. After all, we veterans deserve the best care possible. It's our right after serving our country and sometimes risking our lives! We shouldn't have to beg for it...

Your View: Issues supported (10/24/08)
It has been reported that one in three women in America will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. As a single-mother of two, I have been one of those three women. Therefore, when this issue has arisen in the presidential election, I naturally looked at the candidates' positions and where they stand on issues facing women in general...

Your View: Obama support (10/21/08)
Editor Jensen: I have comments regarding your editorial on Oct. 12, 2008. If indeed that you feel there are "no real choices" in our upcoming election, I have the perfect solution for you. Just don't vote! Don't compromise your high standards and strong moral fiber by settling for your party's aged warrior, John McCain and Hockey Mom Sarah Palin. They will never know and you can feel good about skipping this round...

Your View: Witness to life (10/14/08)
The Sikeston Area Life Chain would like to again take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for the community support of the Oct. 5th annual life chain. Over 100 participants from local churches and faiths joined efforts in making a bold statement for life. This silent prayerful witness was a powerful testimony of how precious all life is...

Your View: By the numbers (10/14/08)
One never ending war in Iraq, $341 million per day. One budget deficit, $410 billion and counting. One national debt, $10 trillion and and counting. One "Bailout" for members of the Golden Parachute Club, $770 billion. One "Package of Bailout Sweeteners" made necessary by 12 House Republicans, $150 billion...

Your View: Obama is wrong (10/13/08)
Never before in the history of our nation have we faced such a grave crisis: one of the most radical political figures ever to be nominated by a major party is just minutes away from becoming the next President of the United States. I'm trying to figure out if it is just because he is black or just because he is a Democrat. ...

Your View: Help is needed (10/09/08)
Five years ago at the urging of a fellow church member I became involved with Beverly Baker and her Thanksgiving meal. I was in awe at the trust she put in God and the community to pull off the meal. The following year when Beverly turned the organization of the meal over to me, I found out just how much faith is a part of this community wide effort...

Your View: Blame ACORN (10/07/08)
By 2-to-1 margins Americans detest handing over $700 billion to financial institutions as a reward for buying dead paper. But these institutions are not the ultimate beneficiaries, nor the originators of the disaster. ACORN with the news media solidly behind them produced this disaster with intimidation tactics which ACORN used starting in CHICAGO bullying banks into giving money to people who had no means of repaying a mortgage under the guise of promoting Affordable Housing!...
