SIKESTON -- Thanks to grant funding, Sikeston's fire stations will soon be better able to keep running in the event of a power outage. Chief Drew Juden of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety briefed City Council members on grants received from the Assistance for Firefighters Grants during Wednesday's special meeting. The grant money could be used for the purchase of two generators and one breathing air compressor, each up to $40,000, for a total of $120,000 in funds...
Annual run will change course (07/22/10)
SIKESTON -- To mark its fifth year, the annual Rodeo Run will take on a new course. For the first time, the Aug. 7 5K run will begin at the Sikeston Depot and wind through downtown Sikeston. "The whole idea of having the rodeo parade downtown (on Aug. 14) kind of sparked this idea," said Garth Fuchs, program director at the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the run. "It's such a hot time of year, and we think the downtown route will offer scenery and a cooler route."...
