Route 60 project complete (07/29/10)
SIKESTON -- The 21 years it's taken to upgrade Route 60 to four lanes from Sikeston to Willow Springs was well worth the wait for both motorists and economic development. "We are pleased that the Route 60 four-lane project has been completed," said Mark Shelton, Southeast District Engineer for Missouri Department of Transportation. BENTON - An undercover narcotics investigation has led to the arrest of two Scott City residents. Vicky Bailey and Robert Triplett both of Scott City sold controlled substances to an undercover deputy sheriff during the months of June and July of this year, Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said. A search warrant was served Friday at the residence in Scott City and both were taken into custody...
Election nears (07/29/10)
County clerk offices are making final preparations for Tuesday's primary election. Mary Hopper, a clerk in the Scott County Clerk's office, works to fill out envelopes on Tuesday, the final day absentee ballots could be mailed. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and voters should bring their voter's registration card and a form of identification. Voters may also vote absentee in their respective county clerk's office through Monday, and some offices will be open on Saturday...

The Sikeston 14-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars won the Missouri State Championship at the state tournament held July 23-27 in Boonville with a record of 4-0. The team beat MABA National 10-0, Centralia 12-11 and Boonville 7-1 and 16-1. The team will now move on to the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament in Williston, N.D., to be held August 6-11. ...
