davidj@standard-democrat.com DEXTER -- The Park Hills Central Rebels took a gamble in overtime against the Dexter Bearcats on Wednesday night, and won in a big way, shocking the Dexter Bearcats 29-28 in a Class 3 regional game. With the game tied 21-21 at the end of regulation, Dexter got the ball first in overtime and scored on a 2-yard run from fullback Alex Cliff, who converted the point-after attempt, giving the Bearcats a 28-21 lead...
Crystal City blocks Bluejays' upset attempt (11/03/11)
sports@standard-democrat.com CRYSTAL CITY -- In what would have been a game-tying attempt, the Charleston Bluejays had their chances at a first round upset on Wednesday thwarted by a pair of Crystal City hands. Down by three with 1:25 left in regulation, the Bluejays tried for a 29-yard field goal on fourth and goal. However, the Hornets broke through Charleston's line of defense and knocked down their game-saving attempt to preserve a 16-13 win...
Caruthersville blows out Herculaneum (11/03/11)
