SIKESTON - Bottling operations of the Royal Crown Cola Company are expected to start in the former Tucker Truck Terminal building about the middle of next week, according to M.D. Ferguson, an official of the company now located in Cape Girardeau.

SIKESTON - Sikeston residents noticed a large jump in electric bills last month, due not only to cold temperatures but also to a utility cost increase. Residents were not the only ones whose budgets were affected. The R-6 District's monthly bills also have jumped significantly. SPS records show utility costs have increased 15 percent.


SIKESTON - A donation of $5,000 was provided through Savings of America to the Sikeston Arts and Education Council to assist with the local showing of Ancel Adams' black and white nature photos.

SIKESTON - Team manager Wynn Weeks of Sikeston won a 1999 Grand Am with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Weeks and her team were awarded the new car for being the No. 1 team at the Memphis Career Conference for the month of February. Weeks has been with Mary Kay for six months.


SIKESTON - Donnie Nelson of Sikeston recently was presented $100 for bowling his fourth "300" game on March 5.


SIKESTON - The March Employee of the Month at Hunter Acres Caring Center, Northwest and Wakefield, is Norma Robinson. Employed at the facility since 1982, Robinson began as a certified nurse assistant then obtained her restorative certification. She now works in transport.
