CHARLESTON -- Billy Douglas Dean, 77, died at 6:25 a.m. March 29, 2008, at his home in Charleston.
Born Oct. 31, 1930, in Clay County, Ark., to the late Robert W. and Sarah Eugenia Golden Dean, he had been the office manager at the Chrysler Space Division. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a sergeant in the Korean War. In April 2006, he moved from Spring, Texas to Charleston where he was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
On Nov. 7, 1951, in Clay County, he married Geraldine Cox, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Pati Dean of Spring; two brothers, John B. Dean of Tucson, Ariz. and Bobby M. Dean of Ft. Smith, Ark.; one sister, Doris Daniels of Ft. Smith; and three grandchildren, Alicia Dean of The Woodlands, Texas, Spencer Dean of San Marcos, Texas and Alexis Dean of Austin, Texas.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at 11 a.m. at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Burial with full military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
