SIKESTON - The intersection of South Kingshighway and Murray Lane will be closed to traffic effective 7 a.m. Tuesday.
"We have to tear the entire intersection out and put in all new storm sewers for the intersection," said Tom Bridger, public works director. The work on the intersection is a continuation of the storm sewer project extending from School Street down Murray Lane as well as extending the storm sewer north of Kingshighway to Edmondson.
The intersection will be resurfaced with concrete and will be made wider, according to Bridger. The streets will also be better aligned.
"The intersection will be closed, and traffic is asked to detour around the area," said Bridger. "Drive cautiously and be aware." The closure is expected to last for approximately four weeks.
