SIKESTON - Clem Beal was elected Tuesday as president of the senior class at Sikeston Senior High School.


SIKESTON - Miss Mary Jane Sikes left Monday for New York City, where she will attend Julliard's School of Music. Mrs. W.H. Sikes accompanied her daughter as far as St. Louis and will return this Tuesday.

EAST PRAIRIE - Robert H. Hunter, postmaster, announced that a contract has been awarded to Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Pope of this city to build and lease a building for a new post office in East Prairie.


EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie's Eagles soared high over the Sikeston Bulldogs Friday night to win a 6-0 upset victory.

NEW MADRID - Chosen to reign as Junior Miss over the 1981 American Legion Fall Festival in New Madrid was Sabrina Adams, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Adams of New Madrid. First runner-up was Lynne DeLisle and second runner-up was Rhonda Neporadny.

SIKESTON - The 1991 Junior Miss Sikeston selected Thursday at the Cotton Carnival is Frannie Trum. The first runner-up was Kristen Deane and second runner-up was Katie Felker. Anne Marie Gregston was named third runner-up, followed by fourth runner-up Roxann Thomas and fifth runner-up Tara Ring.


NEW MADRID - Law enforcement officials were out early today rounding up 17 persons charged with 48 counts of sale of drugs in New Madrid County. The arrests, said New Madrid County Sheriff Jake Rone, follow a five-month undercover investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies.
