Terrorism: use of terror and violence to intimidate and subjugate, etc., especially as a political weapon or policy.
Certainly the acts on Sept. 11, 2001, have intimidated all of us and brought fear to our hearts. Some who have flown for years now have a fear of being on an airplane, some of being in crowded places like a ball park, mall or concert, and even come of coming out of their homes. So the terrorists did accomplish some of what they set out to do.
This was a horrific act against Americans. Could it be these terrorists have been watching the United States for some years, waiting for the right time to strike? They have watched as some Americans have terrorized other American citizens. These American terrorists have spread fear throughout our land. We have neighborhoods that are so terrorized the residents are afraid to go out after dark. Some have bars on their windows and some have high fences around their homes. They are awakened by gunshots during the night. Is this not a form of terrorism?
The terrorists that invaded our skies Sept. 11 thought now was the time to strike. They thought with all the strife, racism, bigotry, pornography and love of the dollar in our country that we were weakened and ready for the taking. They thought that we were no longer a God-fearing nation, that we had turned from God's commands to the commands of the flesh. We all pray they are wrong, that this spiritual awakening will sweep this great nation and we will all remember who gives us each day of our lives.
We have all been given another chance to make this nation even greater; to be a nation of kind, caring people and not violent ones. This is a time to come together to stamp out violence all around us. Let us each say today, "Let it begin with me."
"Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught." Proverbs 3:25-26
God bless America.
