SIKESTON - Vastie Griffin, 100, died Dec. 29, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Dec. 5, 1903, in Red Banks, Miss., daughter of the late George and Lula Young, she was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.

In 1926, she married John Griffin who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Annie Griffin of Sikeston; one son, Johnny Griffin of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Detroit and Elizabeth Flowers of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and 24 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 41 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, one grandson and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at the Inspirational Word Church in Sikeston. Franklin Jones and Elder John Chandler will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
