SALEM, Ill. - James Raymond Jeffords, 74, died at 5:15 a.m. Feb. 15, 2004, at his home.
Born Aug. 15, 1929, in Paducah, Ky., son of the late Raymond and Hattie Lee Jeffords, he retired from Egyptian Concrete Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, Mo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and member of Amvets.
On June 14, 1959, in Charleston, he married Betty Jones who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Raymond Jeffords II and David and JoAnna Jeffords of Salem; two daughters, Tammy Renee Buehne of Salem and Felecia Kay Scarbrough of Odin; two brothers, Charles Lee Jeffords of St. Charles, Mo., and Billie Gene Jeffords of Sikeston, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
One brother, Gerald Spencer Jeffords, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Larry Albert officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Lawn Cemetery.
