SIKESTON - As the Christmas holiday approaches, Troop E of the Missouri State Highway Patrol prepares for one of the busiest holidays ever. "Traditionally, this is not one of our biggest holidays, however, Christmas falls on a Saturday this year making it a nice weekend for travel," said Lt. Jim McNiell, satellite commander for Troop E. "Friday will be the heaviest traffic day." With more people traveling the highways this weekend, Troop E will have all available manpower out on the roads and highways. Slow down and pay attention. "The two main causes of accidents are a result of speeding and inattention. I want to encourage people to take their time and drive defensively."
