SIKESTON -- Halene B. McGee, 77, died Sept. 21, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 5, 1929, in LaForge, daughter of the late Henry Barbre and Rosa Duke Barbre Fausett, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston. She taught remedial reading and math for Sikeston Public Schools.
On Oct. 26, 1946, at Piggott, Ark., she married Jesse Lee McGee, who preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were: one son, Gary McGee; one sister, Haley Mahar; and one grandson, Adam McGee.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and David Couch of Sikeston; one sister, Mildren Munson of East Prairie; two grandchildren, Jeremy Couch of Bolivar and Ryan McGee of Sikeston; two special friends, Jackie Hayes and Edna Colbert, both of Sikeston; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. David Jackson, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Dolan Rogers, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bertrand.
Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bertrand.
