SIKESTON - Miss Lucille Stubblefield, who has been employed in Washington, D.C., this past year, is expected home the latter part of this week.

CAIRO, Ill. - Fred L. Danner, son of Margaret Danner of Cairo and a gunnery mate in charge of heavy artillery aboard a destroyer, has arrived home after his discharge from the U.S. Navy. Danner, who served three years in the U.S. Navy, will soon be relocating to Missouri.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Ira Shuffet have purchased a newly remodeled nursing home from Mrs. Juanita Newton, Lilbourn, three miles west of Sikeston on Highway 60.

SIKESTON - Michael Martin Murphy thrilled the crowd Friday night at the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo with some of his old standards as well as new songs from his upcoming album, "Tonight We Ride." The people are the main focus of Eddy Raven's energy and are the basis of all his songs, according to the singer/songwriter's testimony at a Saturday afternoon press conference. "I like to be right by the folks, not 50 feet away . . . I always feel it's like kissing by proxy." He said that during his Saturday performance, he would sing his own material and songs from his latest album.

SIKESTON - Chuck Jones, the initial contact with Jakel Inc., the city's new industry, was shown the appreciation of his hometown at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting. A plaque on behalf of the city was presented to Chuck by Mayor Lonnie Thurmond. Jakel, manufacturer of small motors, is not firing with an Aug. 28 production startup anticipated.

SIKESTON - The 1995 Miner Nursing Center Rodeo king and queen were crowned Aug. 8 by Miner Mayor Don Holman. Pete Castleberry was crowned king with Norene Singleton as his queen.
