SIKESTON - The Taylor Funeral Home has purchased a lot between the Catholic Church and the Loomis Mayfield residence facing Malone Park to the north, from Lee Hunter of St. Louis and a modern funeral home is to be constructed on the lot as soon as possible.
NEW MADRID - After 32 years as secretary-treasurer, Burt H. Rowe Sr. officially retired at the annual business meeting of the New Madrid County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. this morning.
SIKESTON - The city of Sikeston will receive bids for the construction and renovation of the McCoy-Tanner Building at 4 p.m. Feb. 21. The bids will be opened at that time at the City Administrative Building at 215 N. New Madrid St. The McCoy-Tanner Building is being remodeled for use as the new City Administration Building.
SIKESTON - Joe Blanton Jr., an attorney with Blanton, Rice, Sidwell and Ottinger, is one of the four southeast Missourians to make the Missouri Jaycees Ten Outstanding Young Missourians list. He received the award last week at a banquet conducted at Lake of the Ozarks.
