BONNE TERRE - James Ernest Kennedy, 76, formerly of Sikeston, died Jan. 7, 2004, at the Parkland Hospital in Farmington.
Born July 25, 1927, in Perry, Miss., son of the late Dayton and Alice Kennedy Garner, he retired as a self-employed farmer.
On July 27, 1979, he married Barbara Alice "Betty" McDowell Comstock who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1999.
Survivors include: two sons, James Kennedy of Bonne Terre and Bobby Kennedy of Lilbourn; two daughters, Camilla Byerly of LaForge and Connie Byerly of Murray, Ky.; two stepsons, Lee Comstock and Jimmy Comstock of Dexter; two brothers, Stanley Kennedy of Matthews and Lee Kenedy of East Prairie; one sister, Nancy Reese of New Madrid; and 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
One stepson, Terry Comstock, also preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. Pat Hogan, associate minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
