Edwin "Charles" Collins, 75, died Jan. 11, 2004, at his home.
Born Oct. 6, 1928, at Akin, Ill., son of the late Jessie and Lucille Riddle Collins, he retired from Plastene Supply after 27 years. A graduate of Benton High School in Benton, Ill., he was a member of the Church of Christ in Portageville.
On June 6, 1948, in Benton, Ill., he married Shirley Collins who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Charles Laverne Collins and Larry Dale Collins of Sikeston and Robert Persinger of Morehead; one daughter, Mary Lucille Carter of Portageville; one brother, Jessie Collins Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Ruth Lane of Presidio, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Brandy Burton, Justin Birdwell, Alesha Williams, Phillip Persinger, Sydney Beth Carter and Robert Allen Carter; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Faith Williams and Jacob Allen Burton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Collins and Leonard Lee Collins; and two sisters, Nadine Rudy and Minnie Bell Reed.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. The Rev. Bryan Kirby officiated.
Burial followed in the Knob Prairie Cemetery at Akin.
