SIKESTON - Thomas Hahs, 11, fractured his right forearm when he fell from a swing in the family yard on Dorothy Street on Saturday.

SIKESTON - The furnishings of the Jefferson Hotel, 519 Prosperity, are being sold at public auction on Sept. 2 and the hotel will be converted to a rooming house under the new management of W.H. Lewis, who also will erect a fish market directly south of the hotel.

SIKESTON - The new Southwest Elementary School was given a thorough inspection last night by more than 850 curious parents and children - of all ages - in an open house that ran past the scheduled three hours.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston High School is now the owner of a new Hamilton piano. The instrument is a gift of the senior class and the concert choir.

DEXTER - New Dexter head football coach Matt Haug will be at the helm when the Bearcats open their 1984 schedule at home against Poplar Bluff Friday. Among the starters returning for Haug is quarterback Eric Jones, who threw for over 800 yards last season.

SIKESTON - Sikeston Department of Public Safety Officer Jerry Alley prepared for the streets by suiting up in one of the city's newest bulletproof vests. Sikeston attorney Robert A. Dempster donated $1,000 for the purchase of the vests.


SIKESTON - Contestants are being sought for the upcoming Miss Sikeston and Junior Miss Sikeston pageants. These competitions will be in conjunction with the 50th Annual American Legion Cotton Carnival Week Sept. 19-24.
