POPLAR BLUFF - Iona Garrett Sneathern, 82, died April 13, 2004, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus. She had been in declining health for the past year.
Born Dec. 11, 1921, in Hilliard, daughter of the late William and Ada Ethel Robertson Garrett, was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She retired in 1982 from the Alton Corrugated Box Company. She enjoyed her Sunday school class, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
On May 14, 1939, she married Louis Sneathern who preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1980.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Louis and Donna Sneathern of Sikeston and Jerry Lee and Kay Sneathern of Poplar Bluff; nine grandchildren and spouses, Andrew and Larissa Sneathern of Washington, D.C., Sherry and Andy Moore of Poplar Bluff, Kena and Jerry Brandt of Bernalillo, N.M., Renee Sneathern of Poplar Bluff, Lydia and John Castleman of Jacksonville, Fla., Joe Chatman of Atlanta Cole and Natalie Chatman of Ozark, Stephen and Michelle Ledbetter of St. Louis and Blake Ledbetter of Alexandria, Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn Moore and Chance Moore of Poplar Bluff, Jones Castleman of Jacksonville and Madison Ledbetter and Grace Ledbetter of St. Louis.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Luther Abbott will officiate assisted by the Rev. Joe McCullough.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
