I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated two of your recent columns: the one approving the new sales tax and your "Letter to the White House." I grew up in Sikeston. It was a good place to grow up and I certainly want the best for all of those who live there.
I was shocked to read in a recent article that there are several hundred abandoned houses in Sikeston. And, I continue to be distressed to read of the constant crime issues. I applaud all of those who are working to address these issues for the community. It takes a lot of people and a lot of work to make a community a good place to live. It doesn't just happen.
And, I completely agree with you in your remarks to the President. If you don't have borders, do you still have a country? If people from other countries don't have to abide by our laws, do our laws matter? Where in the Constitution was there provision for a "national endowment for the arts?" Be encouraged. You're speaking the truth. God bless you.
