SIKESTON - City officials will meet Tuesday with representatives of the Federal Insurance Administration and of Booker Associates to discuss preliminary results of a local Federal Flood Insurance Rate Study. The FIA of the Federal Emergency National Flood Insurance Program is a product of the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973.


NEW MADRID - New Madrid County R-1 School District is sponsoring a freshman-sophomore Quiz Bowl Tournament Saturday with teams from several schools competing.

NEW MADRID - As a member of Gov. Mel Carnahan's Task Force for Efficient Operations, Glen Medlin is already thinking efficiency. "We will be meeting virtually every week - that will be a lot of trips to Jefferson City. I'm hoping to find someone to car pool with," Medlin said. Medlin, Metal Services superintendent with Noranda Aluminum Co. Inc., is among 57 Missouri business executives who will be evaluating state government operations.


SIKESTON - The slightly warmer temperatures are making some roads passable - provided motorists can get their vehicles moving. Local businesses are trying to get back into business following Sunday's winter storm.
