SCOTT CITY - Helen Ree Tharp, 90, died March 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Manor in Bonne Terre.

Born Nov. 18, 1913, in Diehlstadt, daughter of the late William Harvey and Stella M. Jennings Griffith, she had worked as a seamstress for Ely Walker Clothing Factory in Scott City. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Scott City.

On April 19, 1942, in Fornfelt, she married Joseph W. Tharp who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1972.

Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Tharpe of Cadet, Paul Tharp of Florissant and Charles Tharpe of Florissant; one stepson, Joe Tharpe of Florissant; one stepdaughter, Georgia Wynn of Blanchardsville, Wis.; one sister, Juanita Slinkard of DeKalb, Ill.; and two granddaughters, four step grandchildren, two great-grandsons and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

One stepson, one stepdaughter and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church in Scott City. The Rev. Randy Morse will officiate.

Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
