EAST PRAIRIE - Loretta Chunn, 12 years old, a pupil in the seventh grade of East Prairie schools, won the grand bond prize offered by the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Sikeston for her essay on "Our American Steel."
SIKESTON - E.F. Schorley was appointed Monday by the Scott County Court as justice of the peace in Richland Township to fill the vacancy created by the death recently of W.H. Carter.
SIKESTON - Ralph Boyer, 37-year-old president of the Ralph Boyer Co., was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce for the 1964-65 year by directors of the organization at a meeting at the Rustic Rock Tuesday evening.
SIKESTON - Response to the women's safety course scheduled for April by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety has been so good that a second course has already be scheduled for June. Crime Prevention Officer Rick Toon said the department has had so many calls for women interested in the course that the enrollment limit, originally intended to be 25, has been extended to 50. The department has received more than 200 inquires about the course, he said.

SIKESTON - A change of format will bring new awards to the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Banquet, scheduled for April 21. The former "Man of the Year" honor will be broadened to "Citizen of the Year." The Chamber Board of Directors recently approved the change.
