HARRISBURG, Ark. - Guy Sylvester Wilson, 84, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 2:45 a.m. Nov. 15, 2004, at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg.
Born April 28, 1920, in Oxford, Miss., son of the late Grover C. and Lillie M. Geeslin Wilson Sr., he lived in Sikeston most of his life where he was a farmer. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was also of the Baptist belief.
On Oct. 23, 1938, in New Madrid, Mo., he married Vernice "Cricket" Freed who preceded him in death on March 10, 2002.
One daughter, six brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Steven Wilson of Matthews, Mo., and James Wilson of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Mary McPherson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Walter Wilson of Harrisburg; one sister, Jean Donnelly of Kirkland, Wash.; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon Thursday until service time at 2 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
