Motorists hospitalized after accident

PORTAGEVILLE - The Missouri Highway Patrol reported an accident early today near Portageville which sent three people to area hospitals.

Patrice M. Armstrong, 33, of Bartlett, Tenn., was traveling south on Interstate 55, four miles north of Portageville, when she ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch embankment. She sustained serious injuries in the 5:30 a.m. accident and was transported by air to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Passengers in the vehicle were also injured. Herbert Harding, 42, of Henning, Tenn., was taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston with serious injuries and Kevin Armstrong, 12, who suffered moderate injuries, was transported by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
