Wednesday, November 24, 2004

SIKESTON - A Sikeston man was arrested after the report of an alleged rape.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden, officers responded to Missouri Delta Medical Center at approximately 9:10 a.m. Monday in connection with the incident.

Juden said the victim told officers her former boyfriend met her after work around 7:30 a.m. and offered to give her a ride home.

"After she got into the car, he forced her onto the floor of the car," Juden said. "He drove her to a secluded area and then raped her. He drove her back to Sikeston where he dropped her off near a relative's house."

The suspect, John Daniel Blackmon, 22, was arrested within minutes of the report. Charged by the Scott County Prosecutor's Office with forcible rape, forcible sodomy and kidnapping, Blackmon remains in custody with bond set at $250,000.
