FLORISSANT - Aubrey Dempsey "Jack" Whorton, 77, died April 28, 2004, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.
Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Russellville, Ark., son of the late True and Ather Deatherage Whorton, he retired as an assembler for General Motors in St. Louis and was a part-time usher for Weherenberg Theaters in St. Louis. He was a member of United Auto Workers AFL-CIO in St. Louis.
On Oct. 9, 1955, he married Peggy Brindley who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Rick Whorton of Florissant; four daughters, Debra Madigan of Oran, Bonita Boston and Cheryl Politte of O'Fallon and Paula Menzel of Highland, Ill.; one brother, Kenneth Whorton of West Memphis, Ark.; two sisters, Iva Jewel Lynn of Chaffee and Edna Mae Cummins of Sikeston; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, one granddaughter and one son-in-law.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Ed Carter will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
