Speakout 10/5

Friday, October 5, 2001

I hope you are keeping up with the man who raped the maid at the Ramada Inn. I hope you know what's going on with him. If you know anything, please put it in the paper or SpeakOut or something.

We are following the case as it goes through the court system.

I'm calling about the Cotton Top contest. It's not fair that we have very few blacks participating in it. Six whites win and they're little kids. That's not right. It doesn't give a very good impression for them wanting to do good if only white kids win all the time. That's too young of an age for them to make a difference. Just like the terrorist attack, if war breaks out, both black and white will fight. We belong to the United States too and I don't think it's right that they have all white judges and they pick all white winners. But when it comes to a war, black and white go and fight. I would appreciate if you would print this. I'm very disappointed in Sikeston. This has been going on for years, ever since I was a kid. It's time to change. On TV they talk about pulling together, but they're not pulling together. It's discrimination. It's just little kids and you don't have to have a college education to see that this is discrimination all the way.

Anyone who would run our President down and make snide remarks is not patriotic. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, I was just a teen-aged girl and my parents were strong Republicans, and of course I was and still am, and I didn't like FDR. But when we went to war, all malice and disrespect left. I was told to stand behind our president, as you should be now. He's got a terrible load on his shoulders. God bless George W. Bush and God bless the USA.

What war? I don't see a war going on. All I see is a bunch of talk and a bunch of money being spent and nothing is being done. They're going to keep on doing this and keep doing this to Americans. We need to go over there and do what we were supposed to have done years ago. If we don't stand up now, America is going to be lost. They didn't mind hurting innocent women and children over here. It's time we stand up and get to war.

I just thought about how serious President Bush and Governor Ridge are about ending terrorist organizations. We'll know just how effective they're going to be when they go after the donors, those who send money to Operation Rescue to keep the terrorist hit-list on the Internet.

During World War II, the Germans put six saboteurs ashore on the East Coast from a submarine. They were soon apprehended and hanged.

It seems like on television we're giving the terrorists an awful lot of lip service on what we're going to do and what we're not going to do. Why tell the terrorists all over the world what we're doing? They ought to keep that quiet. Or are they running for re-election? If anybody can tell me, let me know. Will you?

Like many Sikeston residents, I greatly appreciate your dedicating a whole page to our American flag. Is there any way you can get your news service to send you a whole flag? It hurt me to only see 12 stripes instead of the proper 13. There should be a stripe for each of the 13 colonies just as there is a star for each of our 50 states. I have patched my copy with a strip colored with a red marker and attached with cellophane tape. Even patched, I am proud to display it. Thanks for your gift to us.
