ORAN - Norman "Catfish" Eftink, 65, died at 1:02 a.m. Aug. 25, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 18, 1938, in Oran, son of the late Frank John and Velma Ida Dannenmueller Eftink, he retired as owner and operator of E&F Masonry in Oran and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran, he was an honorary member of the Oran Jaycees. He was also a member of Cape Girardeau Masons Local Union 23.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike Eftink of Jackson and Jeff Eftink of Chaffee; one daughter, Sandy Simmons of Kelso; two sisters, Rose Ann Birkner of Ballwin and Doris Graviett of Oran; four grandchildren; and his dearest friend, June Simmons of Oran, who shared six of her grandchildren with him.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran where parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:15 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. James Seyer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
