Your view: Job well done

I am a proud grandfather of one the members of the Scott County 4-H club. This weekend they held their rodeo at the Sikeston Bootheel Rodeo Ground. I am writing to highly commend all the leaders and volunteers who help these kids both out front and behind the scenes. It takes a great deal of time and effort to make it successful and I think it was.

I want to commend two groups that gave of their time and effort to help make it a success. Not only did the Jaycees allow the use of the grounds, some of the members were out there who help with the arena and opened up the concession stand. I asked what they charged for this services and was told nothing, that the main reason is the Jaycees have an agreement that the 4-H to help with the Bootheel Rodeo. The members who were there gave their own time to help these young people. Thank you Sikeston Jaycees and your members. You should be highly commended for this because it promotes great values in our young people who have such terrible pressures pulling at them these days.

The other group is the Scott County Ambulance service. They had two ladies out there last night who looked over and checked every rider that hit the ground regardless of how hard. That may not sound like much but my daughter made a point to tell me that at the other sites they go to the ambulance crews just sit there and wait to see if they are needed. I don't know who the young ladies were but thank you for doing great and professional job.
