EAST PRAIRIE - Mr. and Mrs. James Furlong of East Prairie recently were advised by the Navy Department that their son, Freeman Furlong, a seaman first class, is missing in action.

SIKESTON - The Moderne Chorale, a new 16-voice singing group developed at the Sikeston Senior High School by director Gordon Beaver, made its first public appearance Tuesday night to entertain the Kiwanis Club. Accompanist for the group is Libby Rainains. The entire high school chorus will sing two concerts before Christmas, one Dec. 20 at the First Methodist Church and the other Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. in the Middle School auditorium.

SIKESTON - Children and adults gathered Friday morning to watch the kickoff of the Christmas season as Santa Claus landed by helicopter at Kingsway Mall. Children can visit with Santa throughout the Christmas season in the mall's main lobby.

SIKESTON - Brittany Paige McDonald was crowned Junior Miss Sikeston Autumnfest at the Kingsway Mall on Nov. 5. She is the 13-year-old daughter of Duke and Pat McDonald of Sikeston and an eighth grader at Sikeston Junior High. First alternate was Rochelle DeLisle, 14, daughter of Jon and Cilia DeLisle of New Madrid. Second alternate was Amber Worth, 13, daughter of Jim and Sue Worth of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual City of Lights tour from Dec. 5-8 and Dec. 12-15. Tours will begin at two locations - Kingsway Mall and the Sikeston Airport. There will be two tours nightly at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
