MORLEY - Pvt. Seibert A. Gibson, son of L.S. Gibson of Morley, was inducted at Jefferson Barracks on May 25. He is with the infantry at Camp Hood, Texas.

ROLLA - Democratic committees in the state Congressional Districts met Tuesday to elect state committee members and district officers. The 8th District meeting at Rolla re-elected J. Burleigh Arnold, trust officer of the Central Missouri Trust Co. in Jefferson City, to the state committee. Results from the meeting indicated some efforts on the part of supporters of Warren E. Hearnes, Democratic nominee for governor, to heal the party split resulting from the bitter primary campaign.

BENTON - Monica Lanpher was crowned Miss Neighbor Day Friday night at Benton. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Nick and Charlotte Lanpher of Chaffee. She was also second runner-up in the Miss Scott County contest.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Junior High School cheerleaders have secured a spot to participate in the state competition scheduled for Nov. 5. Sikeston hosted the Missouri State Southeast Regional Cheerleading Competition in August. The squad members are: Lucy Mitchell, Crystal Lenon, Andrea Schoch, Michele Moll, Meredith Henry, Brooke McDonald, Brittany McDonald, Laura Jennings, Dana Vickery, Amber Howren, Dawn Lawrence, Melissa Lewis, Jenne Hart, Erica Hart, Lori Henry, Hillary Bird, Annie Ralph, Tiffany Grojean, Jennifer Parker and Chrissy Bellah.
