MINER - Alta Hyde, 85, died Sept. 6, 2004, at her home.
Born Feb. 12, 1919, in Fayette County, Ala., daughter of the late Charlie and Ethel Cox Garner, she was a foster grandmother with the Foster Grandparents' Program for 15 years. She was a member of Parker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sikeston.
On Nov. 11, 1934, she married Tommy Hyde who preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1982.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Bobby Hyde and Wayne Hyde; and one daughter, Patricia McCane.
Survivors include: six sons, James Hyde and Albert Hyde of Wappapello, Eugene Hyde of Andrews, Texas, and Walter Hyde Jimmy Hyde and Ronald Hyde of Sikeston; two daughters, Mary Hyde of Andrews and Linda Nierman of Sikeston; and 37 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Joseph Hooper, former pastor of Parker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
