POPLAR BLUFF - The Oran baseball team fell to 5-2 on the season with a 4-3 road loss to Poplar Bluff on Wednesday.

The Eagles drew seven walks and were hit by a pitch three times but they couldn't capitalize as they stranded eight base runners.

Matt Seyer took the loss in 6 2/3 innings.

He allowed four runs (two earned) off four hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

Poplar Bluff's Seth Blackwell picked up the win in relief, throwing three innings and allowing no runs and two hits. He walked two and struck out two.

Oran's Joey Williams, Chase Seyer, Craig Friga and Josh Diebold each had one hit.

Diebold had a two-out run-scoring double to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Poplar Bluff (7-5) tied the game in the sixth with two runs. An Eddie Dortch sacrifice fly tied things up at 3-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Craig Lansford led off with a walk.

He stole second and a sacrifice bunt put him on third. The Eagles walked the Mules' No. 3 and four hitters, but it didn't pay off as Justin Newton brought home Lansford with the winning run on a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

The Eagles had six errors in the game, including two on one play that allowed the tying runs to advance to second and third in the sixth inning.
