Accidents result in injuries

POPLAR BLUFF - The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported area accidents Tuesday which resulted in injuries.

A Caruthersville man sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning near Hayti Heights. Anthony Flakes, 20, was driving west on U.S. 412, two miles west of Hayti Heights when the accident occurred at 7:25 a.m. Dennis W. Thompson, 48, of Chaffee was driving west in a tractor trailer and when he attempted to make a wide right turn, he was struck by Flakes' vehicle. Flakes was transported to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

According to reports, Richard J. Mendez, 45, of Pasadena, Texas, was driving south on Interstate 55 at 7:04 p.m., one mile south of New Madrid, when he was driving behind Adriano Sixto, 46, of Mercedes, Texas, who was towing another vehicle. The Mendez vehicle pushed the towed vehicle through both lanes of northbound traffic into a ditch.

Mendez was transported by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment of moderate injuries.
