PORTAGEVILLE - Dorris Baker, 94, died Nov. 12, 2006, at Pemiscot Memorial Health System in Hayti.
Born Jan. 29, 1912, in Neelyville, to the late William and Margaret Mills Krigbaum, she lived most of her life in Portageville, where she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church until she became homebound. She worked many years beside her husband, Evans, and son, Gary, in their grocery store business.
On Aug. 28, 1932, in St. Louis, she married Evans Lee Baker, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1998.
Also preceding her in death were: one brother, Mansel Krigbaum; four sisters, Ann Young, Ruth Hart, Louise Plengemeier and Grace Flora; and one granddaughter, Debbie Baker.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Wilma Baker of Portageville; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Terri and Dalton Simpson of Portageville and Laura Baker of Birmingham; three great-
grandchildren, Emily Simpson and Patrick Morton of Portageville and Jeremy Simpson of Springfield; one great-great-grandson, Hunter Smith; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Young of Portageville.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Buck Morton will officiate. Her grandson, Patrick Morton, will present the eulogy.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
