Oran takes out Valle in tournament

OAK RIDGE - The Oran Eagles baseball team improved to 6-2 on the season with an 8-5 victory against Ste. Genevieve Valle on Friday afternoon in the Oak Ridge Tournament.

Oran staved off a late Valle rally to post the victory.

The Eagles led 7-0 heading into the fifth inning but the Warriors cut the lead to 7-5.

They wouldn't get any closer.

Oran's Trevor Irwin picked up the win, throwing 4 2/3 innings and allowing five runs (three earned) off eight hits. He walked one and struck out one.

Austin Dumey threw 1 1/3 innings or relief, allowing two walks and one hit. Matt Seyer got the save in one inning of work, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

The three pitchers also did the most damage with the bats. Irwin went 2-for-4 with three RBIs; Dumey was 2-2 with two RBIs and Seyer was 1-3 with one RBI.

Chase Seyer went 1-3 and Craig Friga was 1-1 with two RBIs.

Oran played Woodland in the tournament on Saturday.
