CHARLESTON - Award of the Silver Star medal to three Missourians was announced today by the War Department. Among them was Tech. 5th Gr. Ernest Jones, Route Three, Charleston, for gallantry in action near Trolna, Sicily, Aug. 4, 1943.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Cope have purchased the residential property at 305 N. Ranney from Mr. and Mrs. William Northington, and will take possession on the first of June. Mrs. Cope will continue to conduct her boarding house at the new location.
SIKESTON - It will be ship ahoy for 20 members of Sikeston Mariner Ship No. 15. Between now and June 11 they will spend their time raising additional money to complete their $3,600 fund needed to make the trip to spend a week aboard a ship at Mystic, Conn.

SIKESTON - Gov. John M. Dalton has designated 11 southeastern Missouri counties as emergency areas- the first step toward getting federal disaster aid.
SCOTT CITY - The appointment of Thomas E. Cooley as executive director effective June 1 was announced Friday by the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority Board of Commissioners.
SIKESTON - The Women's Auxiliary at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Sikeston recently sponsored a "Love Your Church" banquet. Members donated items to the church and attended a fellowship lunch.
