SIKESTON - Gerald A. "Jerry" Throgmorton, 64, died April 28, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Feb. 19, 1940, son of the late Dr. Howard B. and Bonnie Jackson Throgmorton, he graduated in 1958 from Sikeston High School, where he was a member of the All-American Football Honor Roll. He worked for Western Electric for 20 years, was manager of the Sikeston Country Club for many years and was currently a bail bondsman for Mississippi and Scott counties. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1959-61 in San Antonio. A member of the First Christian Church, he was also a member of the Sikeston Elks Lodge where he founded the Sikeston Elks Scholarship Fund.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Stan Weaver of Germantown, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Ashley Weaver; one grandson, Austin Weaver; and a special friend, Christine Blagg.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where the Sikeston Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Allen Shriver, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate.
Private interment will be held at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Sam Potashnick, Jim Walborg, Ray Smith, Dr. Robert Colbert, Jim Hale and Don Hurst.
