Riverfront improvement

Phase 1 of the $2 million riverfront improvement project is nearing completion as workers with Dumey Construction of Benton work to complete the boat ramp leading to the Mississippi River. The work on the boat ramp was delayed until the river dropped to about the two-foot mark. On Monday, the Mississippi River Commission will be visiting New Madrid during its annual low-water inspection of the river. A public hearing will begin at 9 a.m. on the Corps of Engineers' boat which will be docked along the levee front.
