SIKESTON - With the announcement that the Missouri Institute of Aeronautics at Sikeston would close sometime in the middle of October, officials of the organization stated that they would seek to establish Sikeston as a stop on proposed "feeder route" in a new Parks' project.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public Schools should have an enrollment in the first week of school beginning Aug. 31, of 3,750 pupils. Pre-school activities at the senior high school begin Monday when students of the senior, junior and sophomore years will check out their books, lockers and pay their fees for the coming school year. From 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Aug. 27, sophomore students and their parents are invited to the senior high school to become acquainted with their teachers for the school year.
ESSEX - Lisa Crites, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Crites of Essex, was crowned as the 1984-85 Miss Essex during Mae Hall Park Day Saturday. Her first attendant is Nancy Hueckel, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hueckel of Essex, and her second attendant is Deanna Deckworth, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Duckwork of Essex.
BELL CITY - Participants are being sought for the Annual Bell City Community Day Pageant scheduled for Sept. 10. There will be a total of seven contests with the ages ranging from birth to 19 years.

SIKESTON - Members of the Veterans' Park Committee recently met to plan the layout of a decommissioned M60 tank that will arrive in Sikeston in about a month. The tank is coming from Fort McCoy, Wis.
