SIKESTON -Two Sikeston residents were taken into custody for a New Madrid County burglary and local forgery charges.
The arrests were made by Sikeston Department of Public Safety detectives Thursday after the New Madrid County Sheriff's office broadcasted a stop and hold for the vehicle and suspects, according to DPS Director Drew Juden.
The two suspects, a juvenile and Dustin Maddux, 17, where arrested within hours of committing a burglary. They admitted to the burglary and to several previous burglaries at the same house. In one of the earlier burglaries they stole the homeowner's personal checks and forged them in Sikeston on July 20.
Due to the residence being burglarized several times, the neighbors were watching the house and saw the suspects. Juden said a neighbor gave an excellent description of the suspects and the vehicle to New Madrid County deputies who then issued the broadcast to area agencies.
The juvenile was transported to juvenile detention and Maddux was taken to New Madrid County Jail, where he posted a $10,000 bond and was released pending his court date.
Several other suspects are being sought in connection with the earlier burglaries at this residence and forgery of the checks stolen.
