BENTON - Miss Judy K. Haws was crowned Farm Bureau Queen Saturday at the Community building commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Missouri Farm Bureau.

MORLEY - Death struck six times on Sikeston area highways over the weekend. Three were killed near Morley Saturday night and three died in a crash near Hayti. Three cars were involved in both accidents.

SCOTT CITY - The appointment of Thomas E. Cooley as executive director effective June 1 was announced Friday by the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority Board of Commissioners.

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Several local people participated in the Special Olympics, conducted recently at the Abe Stuber Complex in Cape Girardeau. Participants were: Dorothy Ostrander, 100m walk, softball throw; Danny Dobrynski, standing long jump, softball throw; Mark Townsend, 400m dash, 100m dash, softball throw; Kathy Sisney, 50m dash, 100m dash; Ronnie Green, softball throw; Sharon Dean, 50m dash, 100 m dash; Teresa Brown, softball throw, 100m walk; and John Henry Patterson, 50m dash, 100m dash and 400m run. They were sponsored by Individual Dynamics.
