SIKESTON - Pfc. Marvin Hornbeck was seriously wounded in action in France, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Hornbeck of Diehlstadt, were informed by the War Department last week. Pfc. Hornbeck lived in Sikeston before entering the service and was employed by the Scott County Milling Co.

SIKESTON - It will be a musical evening for the Kiwanis Club Tuesday night at the Dunn Hotel. The United Quarter will perform and is composed of Gene Winters of Sikeston, Bill Hersey and Mrs. Hersey of Charleston, and Bill Owens of East Prairie with Mrs. Hazel Bowen of Charleston as accompanist.

SIKESTON - Francis Schumacher, president of Schumacher Insurance Agency in Sikeston, returned Monday from the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He was one of eight leading producers in his district selected by Transamerica Occidental, the official insurer of the '84 Olympics, to attend the event.

SIKESTON - Members of the Sikeston High School varsity soccer team went though conditioning drills Thursday at the Sikeston Junior High practice field. Twenty players from last year and a new coach, Jim Woods, hope to improve the program. A total of 30 players came out to compete for the positions on the team.

SIKESTON - Chief Engineer Kevin Goetz of Falcon TV recently donated a color television and a video cassette recorder to Principal Larry Bohannon for Southeast Elementary School. The equipment was purchased using funds raised through Falcon's first annual "Back-to-School" campaign. If the customer donated $10 to the campaign, they received free basic cable installation.
