INDIANAPOLIS - Melvin Kellum, 80, died April 28, 2004, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Arkansas, son of the late Willie and Annie Bell Kellum Spitler, he attended school in Arkansas. He retired from International Harvester after 30 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
His wife, Leola Powells Kellum, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son, Melvin Kellum Jr. of Indianapolis; one daughter and son-in-law, Traci L. and Kenneth D. Oner of Indianapolis; one stepson, Van Washington; two stepdaughters, Shirley Martin and Felcia Bennett; one sister, Katie Baker of Kokomo, Ind.; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Eddie Kellum, Eugene Kellum, John Kellum and Sterlin Kellum; and two sisters, Annie Bell Gardner and Carnell Spitler.
Services were conducted May 3 at the Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home in Indianapolis.
Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Henry Kellum, James Kellum, Russell Kellum, Joe Kellum, Charles Kellum and Kenneth Oner.
