BERTRAND - Jesse D. Berry, 89, died Oct. 11, 2007, at the Miner Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 19, 1918, at Big Sandy, Tenn., to the late Dillard and Annie Faxon Berry, he had lived since 1949 in Bertrand, where he was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was employed with Triangle Steel and also Canvas Products in Sikeston until his retirement in 1985.
On Oct. 24, 1947, he married Ola Hurley, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Berry of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Cliff Gilliland of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Phyllis and John Bohannon of Sikeston; one sister, Rozelle Mannon of Gallatin, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, John Gilliland, Jim Gilliland and Elizabeth Gilliland Lawler of Hattiesburg, Miss., Philip Bohannon and Justin Bohannon of Sikeston, Karen Bohannon Gordon of Flat Rock, N.C., Ben Bohannon of Houston and Brad Tolle, Mike Tolle and Becky Couch of Columbus, Ohio; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Jim Eskew of Morley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: John Gilliland, Jim Gilliland, Philip Bohannon, Justin Bohannon, Ben Bohannon; and great-grandson, Andrew Lawler.
