SIKESTON - Miss Ann Draughon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Draughon, has pledged Gamma Phi Beta sorority at Washington University, where she is a student.
GRAYRIDGE - The Future Homemakers and Future Farmers of America chapters of the Richland High School had a "barn warming" Friday night in the agriculture building at the high school. The highlight of the evening came when Miss Jan Bridges was crowned Queen of Barn Warming. The evening's entertainment also included initiation of the freshman FFA members, chicken and hog calling contests and square dancing.
SIKESTON - Early morning voters were literally in line at several polling places when the polls opened at 6 a.m. today and the lines continued periodically through the morning. Voting booths were usually full and many voters opted to mark their choices outside the ballot booth. Balloting will continue until 7 p.m.
SIKESTON - The Missouri National Guard's 1140th Engineer Battalion located in Sikeston, Charleston and Portageville conducted a change of command ceremony Saturday afternoon at the Sikeston Armory. The new commander for the 1140th is Lt. Andrew Rogers who is taking over for Capt. Roger Alsup. On hand for the ceremony was Lt. Col. Kenneth Liescheidt.

SIKESTON - Clarence Bryan "C.B." Lane was guest of honor in celebration of his 98th birthday on Oct. 27. Born Oct. 23, 1896, he is a retired farmer and former teacher. Residents and staff of Sells Rest Home and area friends attended the party. It was a fun event for everybody.
