EAST PRAIRIE - The Sikeston softball team improved to 10-2 on the season with a 9-2 road victory against East Prairie on Wednesday.
Sikeston scored four in the third and one in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
East Prairie cut the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth but couldn't get any closer.
Sikeston plated four more runs in the seventh for some added insurance.
Sikeston pitcher Molly Brinkmeyer picked up the win, throwing 3 1/3 innings.
She allowed one hit and three walks while striking out two.
Allison Blurton pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing two runs off two hits.
She walked two and struck out two.
Blurton and Erin Wibbenmeyer each had two hits and one RBI to pace the Lady Bulldog offense.
Aly Friend went 1-2 with three RBIs, including a double. Paige Silverthorn had a triple.
Brinkmeyer and Elizabeth Heeb each went 1-4 while Beth Ziegenhorn went 1-3 with an RBI.
"The girls went out and played hard," said Sikeston coach Tiffany Glastetter. "We were a little sloppy at the beginning, but we settled in and were able to score some runs.
"We only had one game this week and that kind of hurt our intensity level a bit because we've been used to playing three or four a week."
Sikeston will play at Jackson on Monday at 4 p.m. Sikeston will makeup a rained out game with Notre Dame next Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Lady Bulldog junior varsity team defeated East Prairie 12-1.
The Delta Lady Bobcats improved to 7-5 on the season with a 4-0 victory against Dongola.
Delta scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull away for the win.
Sarah Cook was the winning pitcher in all seven innings. She allowed two hits and three walks while striking out five.
Shea Smith and Krystal Burnett each went 1-for-3. Sarah Cook added two RBIs.
Delta will play in the St. Vincent tournament on Saturday.
